cool mentor opportunity

Hey everybody--
I just found out about this new project in SF. This cool photo guy named Theo Rigby is going to be starting a photo project connected to La Raza centro Legal. La Raza is an organization that supports and advocates for the undocumented day laborer community in SF. One of my closest friends is a lawyer there. Anyway, her friend Theo got some money to do a photo project with undocumented youth. He is going to be pairing up the youth with photo mentors and leading photo and writing projects that stress telling your own story. He is now looking for people who might want to be mentors. I'm gonna do it I think. If anybody is interested or wants to know more let me know. The pic. by the way is from the Fostering Art classroom that I taught in and now sorely miss. And last but not least....CONGRATS EVE!!!!!!

One World Portfolio review

Hey Everybody--
Photo Alliance's One World Portfolio review is happening in March. You show your pics to lots of editors and gallerists etc etc. The deadline to apply is Feb. 15th. I did it last year, and although it didn't catapult me to fame and fortune I actually found it really worthwhile. Check out Photo Alliance's website for more info. Email me if you have specific questions. But I think I'm doing it again.

i mentioned an author at our last critique. her writing is beautiful and amazing if you haven't already read her work. I highly recommend, Trinh T. Minh-Ha, "The Totalizing Quest of Meaning," When The Moon Waxes Red (1991).

Happy new year everybody. I just wanted to let folks know that New Lab has super cheap light jet prints. Its DIY and its much much cheaper than anywhere else. Robyn color went out of business... and I have this suspicion that New Lab bought Robyn Colors stuff and is making the price cheap to lure in the people, and than they will raise the price. Btw, that is based on absolutely NO factual knowledge. Regardless, I just used them and it really was good and affordable. happy light jet!
